Abstract

ALMEIDA, Paulo Pereira de. The servicization of work: perspectives and trends. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2004, n.44, pp.83-107. ISSN 0873-6529.

This article proposes a theoretical framework for analyzing servicization phenomena in advanced societies. Various analytical approaches are considered on the basis of alternative models of organization that cover the service sector - and service production - in accordance with its specificities. Assuming that the tri-partite division of economic sectors - primary, secondary and tertiary - is currently inoperative from an analytical and conceptual point of view, we describe some alternative paradigms, which take into account the heterogeneity, immateriality and diversity of employment in the third sector. The article ends with some contributions to a sociology of the worlds/domains of services production, discussing the operational possibilities of an analytical approach to contemporary enterprises.

Keywords : Servicization; conventional approaches; performance evaluation; net economy.
