Abstract

ESTEVA DE ANDRES, Elena  and  PIMENTEL, Duarte. The corporation and amplified social reproduction: the contribution of societal analysis. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2005, n.47, pp.35-45. ISSN 0873-6529.

This article looks at the corporation (the firm) as a field of interaction, formation of identity, and contribution to social change. Firms have become systems which have a strong autonomy of their own. The role of the firm in promoting, allowing and accepting various social regulations is clear. All this requires us to envisage the firm as a micro-society. This article has two parts: the first is descriptive, and develops some of the basic principles and pillars of sociology of the firm; the second part undertakes a much more detailed analysis of several French and German firms, in the context of a societal analysis.

Keywords : Autonomy; firm; society; structure.
