Abstract

DORES, António Pedro. Damásio’s errors: homage to a source of inspiration. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2005, n.49, pp.119-138. ISSN 0873-6529.

António Damásio asserted the importance of scientific co-operation between neurobiology and the social sciences, particularly in defining what social emotions are. This is one of the consequences of the paradigm change with which he advances towards new explanations of the functioning of the human mind and body - of which society cannot be oblivious, as the three entities are part of the same articulated and differentiated whole. The aim of this work is to contribute to a positive and enriching response on the part of social theory to the cross-disciplinary challenge.

Keywords : Body; emotions; states of mind; social levels.
