Abstract

AYRES, Carlos Buenos. The Brazilian public administration and the vicissitudes of the managerial administration model. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2006, n.51, pp.29-52. ISSN 0873-6529.

This article deals with the issue related to the adoption of the managerial administration model in the Brazilian public sector. It accentuates the possible angles of analysis and interpretation, on the basis of which an attempt is made to understand public administration of a managerial type, especially in its relationship with important topics dealt with by public law. Taking a specific classical periodization of administrative law as its analytical point of reference, the article speculates on the durability of the present source of legitimacy, namely, the effectiveness of management methods and techniques in the context of an administration that is driven by a posteriori objectives and assessment - with an emphasis on the ability of the latter to guarantee net reserves of socio-political loyalty to the signatories of governmental power.

Keywords : post-bureaucratic management; sources of legitimacy; administrative law.
