Abstract
AREOSA, João. Perceptions of occupational risks in the railway sector. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2014, n.75, pp.83-107. ISSN 0873-6529. https://doi.org/10.7458/SPP2014753577.
The primary objective of this article is to present the results of research in an organisational context on the ways in which workers perceive risks linked to their work. The organisation observed by the author is an urban rail transport company, where staff run various types of risk. It was found that workers have heterogeneous perceptions of their occupational risks. However, this diversity ended up providing information that is quite useful for improving both knowledge about the risks in the organisation and the proposed ways of preventing accidents. The article begins by describing a theoretical framework for the topic, and the methodology used in the research (essentially, participative observation and semi-structured interviews).
Keywords : Risk perceptions; work safety; accidents at work.
