Abstract

GAIGER, Luiz Inácio. The solidary economy in the fight to reverse poverty. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2015, n.79, pp.43-63. ISSN 0873-6529.  https://doi.org/10.7458/SPP2015793556.

This article presents and discusses evidence that solidary economic undertakings should be considered a possible alternative for generating income, fighting poverty and undoing the logic underlying inequalities, inasmuch as they promote protagonism on the part of the poor, seek efficiency and fight for decent jobs. A comparison of statistics on enterprises in Brazil and data from the first national map of the Solidary Economy also produces convincing arguments for the value of a singular approach to entrepreneurship in the solidary economic context, and in some respects, in the broader field of small enterprises as well.

Keywords : inequality; income distribution; entrepreneurship; solidarity.
