Abstract

BONELLI, Johanna Maldovan. Associative management and organizational sustainability: the case of the wastepickers´ cooperatives of Buenos Aires city. Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas [online]. 2018, n.88, pp.95-113. ISSN 0873-6529.  https://doi.org/10.7458/SPP2018886509.

This article analyzes the problematic of the organizational sustainability in experiences of associated work, from a case study carried on in Buenos Aires´ cooperatives of cartoneros, between 2007-2014. The notion of “double sustainability” is proposed as a conceptual tool that allows us to address the permanent tension in which the extended reproduction of these experiences is found. For this, we analyze the state and market regulations of the recycling activity and the cartoneros organizations; as well as the practices, links and mobilized resources that, in the daily construction of the associativity, enable and limit the sustainability of these cooperatives.

Keywords : associativism; sustainability; recycling; waste-pickers.
