Abstract

PIGNATELLI, Marina. Anthropology in Portugal in the last 50 years: introduction. Etnográfica [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.2, pp.301-305. ISSN 0873-6561.

This introduction aims to acquaint the reader to the grounds that served as the basis for the production of a thematic dossier on the anthropology that has been done in Portugal in the last 50 years. These are but some explanatory lines on the context in which the opportunity to compile all the valuable contributions that each author has agreed to pay for this thematic dossier emerged, as well as some notes on how the organization of the texts included in it were thought, given the importance that each of them has, as marks of each and every decade, from the sixties to the present. Therefore, the alignment follows an order so that it hopes it will allow a plain understanding of what has been done in anthropology in Portugal in the past half century. The authors who developed the contents of each contribution are also briefly presented, expecting this dossier to be somehow relevant as an advancement to the history of this social science discipline at a national level.

Keywords : anthropology; history; Portugal.
