GONCALVES, Carlos. The current global systemic crisis: new challenges brought to debate. Economia Global e Gestão [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.2, pp.25-41. ISSN 0873-7444.

The current systemic crisis that is fustigating the economic and social system at the global scale has two important particularities: it is a previously announced crisis, so many and such evident (as well as shocking) were the signals that, with some regularity, were emitted, that it causes a strangeness that it caught up so many and so important people out of their guards and, contrarily to previous crises that ravaged the system, it was generated in the womb of the world financial system. It is this second characteristic that has mobilized the most attention of the mass media and guided the debate agendas, around most part of the world, due to the grave consequences in the so-called real economy, understanding by this latter, as the one which is linked to the production of non financial goods and services, and that needs systematic investments for its sustainability, both investments of substitution, as well as of expansion, which, in turn, need to be adequately financed and this is, precisely, the Gordian knot of the matter. Due to the collapse of the world financial system, the filtrage (or selectivity) is ever greater on the part of a decapitalized financial system, with enormous needs of liquidity and, from this situation, everything, systemically, entangles itself, the companies, mainly the small and medium sized companies, cannot give continuance to their projects, due to the lack of financial resources, their clients, equally in difficulties, do not pay, the families, those that are above the survival level, have, them also, to be selective in the way in which they manage their budget. The corollary of all this systemic entanglement translates itself in bankruptcies, reduction of work time, unemployment and worsening of the life conditions and spiral increase of the social instability, favorable ground to the development of the, historically aberrant, isms. This crisis, despite the differentiating factors from the other crises, has, however, a common element that, as it happened with the previous ones, will, most probably, come out acquitted, this common element has a name, it is called the hyperbolization of greed, and this is not ethereal, it is personalized and perpetrated by people with total absence of the most common values. This crisis, by all of these reasons and even more by all that is implicit here, deserves a deep and continued debate. In this debate, more important than the immediate answers, of doubtful momentary effectiveness, are the questions that all its problematization should sustain and it is precisely this the directing line of this article.
