This article aims to promote a theoretical and conceptual debate between the two sources used, based on the practice of caring for and researching and inclusion of the Lay carers of hospitalized elders, in order to prepare them better for discharge and home care. The method used was care-converging research, which was developed with 19 escorts of hospitalized elders. Interviews and participant observation were carried out. A problem-solving approach and respect for their knowledge and culture led the Lay carers to develop and implement a care plan with the elders, and they demonstrated the process of reflection-action-reflection in care. The converging aspects of the sources used showed their potential in nursing care research, contributing to the integration and inclusion of the research participants in care.
