Abstract

CARVALHO, Jacira Nunes; ERDMANN, Alacoque Lorenzini  and  SANTANA, Mary Elizabeh de. Self-Care from the perspective of healthy living in the adolescent. Rev. Enf. Ref. [online]. 2011, vol.serIII, n.4, pp.17-25. ISSN 0874-0283.

The study discusses adolescence and empowerment for care from the perspective of healthy living. It aims to understand the meaning of autonomous care for adolescents and their interactions from the perspective of healthy living. Method: study based on Grounded Theory, carried out through interviews, texts and dynamic interactions with 27 participants in 4 sample groups: teenagers, parents, professors and nurses in the city of Belem, Para. Results: the data analysis produced six categories, and this article focuses on the first category: “The teenager expressing the need for help in the construction of autonomy in caring for oneself ”, which is constituted by nine subcategories. Conclusion: the inter-relationships between subcategories and category show the circularity of movements from the teenaged human, family, connected social groups, towards the possibility of more healthy living by these teenagers, exercising their autonomy within their dependency on protective family, educator, adviser, caregiver present in their lives. It is understood that nursing care in the process of education and health promotion will contribute to the development towards self-care of an independent adolescent.
