Mobbing has been considered an important psychosocial risk factor for the worker’s physical and mental health. Given the importance of the concept and the scarce scientific literature about it, this study was carried out to evaluate the existence of mobbing behaviors, their intensity and frequency in the nursing profession. This is a descriptive correlational and cross-sectional quantitative study. The convenience sample consisted of nurses from the Health Centers in the Region of Cova da Beira. As data collection instrument, we used a questionnaire; the data were analyzed with SPSS (17.0) applying descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that 90,38% of nurses suffered at least one mobbing strategies. However the average stands at eight, with a significant effect (10,3) in spite of a weak intensity (1,51). It was found that “marital status” and “the existence of children” affect the Blocking Progress dimension, “performance enhancement” affects Work Prestige, “career satisfaction” affects Blocking Progress, and “nonprofessional circumstances” affects global mobbing, Personal Disrepute and Actual Intimidation.
