ALVES, José António da Conceição; RIBEIRO, Célia and CAMPOS, Sofia. The emotional intelligence of nurses responsible for hospital services. Rev. Enf. Ref. [online]. 2012, vol.serIII, n.7, pp.33-42. ISSN 0874-0283. https://doi.org/10.12707/RIII1199.
This article presents the results of a study conducted with 153 chief nurses and nurse specialists in charge of service and had as main objective to identify the skills of emotional intelligence that are evident in the management of hospital services. Based on the model of Goleman (2009)the Scale of Emotional Intelligence Capabilities of Veiga Branco (2004), we conducted a descriptive correlational study, using quantitative methods. The results suggest that older nurses and those with longer service, as well as chief nurses, have a greater capacity for emotional intelligence (global), with the exception of empathy, compared with specialist nurses in charge of service.
