Resumen

HOMEM, Filipa; PATRICIO, Maria Filomena; CARDOSO, Rodrigo  y  LOURENCO, Alfredo Cruz. Team Building and nursing. Rev. Enf. Ref. [online]. 2012, vol.serIII, n.7, pp.169-177. ISSN 0874-0283.  https://doi.org/10.12707/RIII1180.

In this environment of growing dissatisfaction and unpredictability in nursing, it is increasingly important to motivate teams, giving them personal, relational, and communicative competencies and, above all, to build team working and thus improve productivity. Team Building emerges as an effective strategy to achieve positive results within organizations. Because it is a strategy not yet widely used in Portugal, we decided to look into the issue and reflect on its relevance and potential in nursing teams with the following objectives: to deepen knowledge about Team Building, to frame Team Building within the context of organizational theories, to describe different models of Team Building and to reflect on the usefulness of Team Building for the quality of nursing care. Articles were searched in EBSCO electronic databases, and organizational psychology literature was consulted. With this research, we conclude that Team Building applied to nursing can improve communication and interpersonal relationships, identify strengths and weaknesses of teams, provide greater job satisfaction and thus enhance the quality of health care provided.

Palabras clave : Team Building; nursing; quality of health care.
