Abstract

MARQUES, Ana. The social skills training of psychotics patients. Psicologia [online]. 2000, vol.14, n.1, pp.65-71. ISSN 0874-2049.

The schizophrenic patient shows psychopathological alterations as well as changing in his various spheres of relationships: familiar, social, scholastic, and/or professional background, demanding therapeutic approaches in multidisciplinary background. In this essay, the author tried to describe the cognitive behaviourist approach - social skill training - used as occupational therapy. Seen as a complementary approach to the treatment, promotes the "know how" to deal with the emotional difficulties and needs, allows emotional expression making its interpersonal communication effective and offers the opportunity to rediscover and reintegrate interpersonal abilities and skills, actively involving the individual in the therapeutic process.

Keywords : Reabilitação; competências sociais; doente psicótico.
