Abstract

LEITAO, Lígia Mexia; PAIXAO, Maria Paula; SILVA, José Tomás da  and  MIGUEL, José Pacheco. Psychossocial Support to Students in Higher Education: From Theory to Practice. Psicologia [online]. 2000, vol.14, n.2, pp.123-147. ISSN 0874-2049.

Founded in the contextualist, interactionist and developmental approaches, the authors present a theoretical and psychological intervention model capable of encompassing a set of strategies, methods and techniques which are effective in supporting higher education students during the whole university years. Although it has a remedial component, this model privileges a preventive kind of intervention that facilitates adjustment and success in the main tasks involved both in the three main transitional moments (entrance, attendance and access to the labour market) and in the main domains of psychological intervention adequate for this kind of population (career guidance, psychological support, enhancement of achievement success and clinical support).

Keywords : Modelo preventivo; orientação no ensino superior; apoio psicopedagógico; psicoterapia.
