Abstract

GONCALVES, Isabel C.  and  VASCO, António Branco. A case study of borderline personality disorder in light of the Paradigmatic Complementarity model. Psicologia [online]. 2001, vol.15, n.2, pp.227-266. ISSN 0874-2049.

Based on an integrative therapeutic model, named "paradigmatic complementarity", that articulates cognitive-behavioral, trait like, interpersonal dynamic and experiential concepts, the authors discuss the case of a borderline patient. Besides the concepts mentioned, essentially used in terms of "case and problem conceptualization", the model also makes use of "process conceptualization". The therapeutic process is understood as being composed by five sequencial phases. The model put forward works as a guide-line for clinical decision making.

Keywords : Integração; perturbação borderline da personalidade; complementaridade paradigmática.
