Abstract

BASTOS, Marta Teixeira  and  COSTA, Maria Emília. The influence of attachment in young adults’ loneliness feelings: implications for psychological intervention. Psicologia [online]. 2004, vol.18, n.2, pp.33-56. ISSN 0874-2049.  https://doi.org/10.17575/rpsicol.v18i2.429.

Attachment can work as a risk factor (attachment security) or as a protective factor (attachment insecurity) toward adolescent development. Based on a life-span attachment perspective, the following study attempts to explore the influence of attachment security in loneliness felt in parental and romantic relationships. As expected, higher security of attachment was related to lower levels of loneliness in both interpersonal contexts. Implications of these findings in designing therapeutic interventions according to the individual needs of the lonely are discussed

Keywords : vinculação; solidão; intervenção psicológica; jovens adultos.
