Abstract

SAMSSUDIN, Sara  and  BARROS, Alexandra. Relation between the beliefs of self-efficacy and the social support on the transition to work on graduate students in higher education. Psicologia [online]. 2011, vol.25, n.1, pp.159-171. ISSN 0874-2049.

Based on the socio-cognitive theory of Bandura (1995), the aim of the present research was to study the relation between self-efficacy beliefs in the transition to work and perceived social support of college students. The sample was constituted by 221 participants. The instruments used were the Scale of Self-efficacy in the Transition to Work (Vieira & Coimbra, 2005) and the Social Support Scale (Vaux et al., 1986; adapted version by Antunes & Fontaine, 1994/5). The results revealed a positive and significant relation between self- efficacy beliefs and perceived social support, especially regarding perceived social support from friends and general others.
