Abstract

LUCAS, Luciane  and  HOFF, Tânia. Subtle forms of hierarchised domination: Body and feminisation of poverty. Ex aequo [online]. 2008, n.17, pp.133-154. ISSN 0874-5560.

In this article, we attempt to show in which way gender «discoursification», as a form of knowledge, perpetuates power strategies that are not always visible. Basing our analysis on the concepts of citizenship and of domination, we try to show how the body configured itself in a space of power and of the silencing of the questions related to the feminine gender. Bearing this objective in mind and grounding our analysis on Foucault’s thought, we try to establish a short genealogy of the body by circumscribing the domination of the poor body in its historical context in order to present a further approach to the question by means of a critical analysis of the feminisation of poverty.

Keywords : domination; gender; feminisation of poverty; body.
