Abstract

DEVREUX, Anne-Marie  and  SENOTIER, Danièle. The Cahiers du Genre: tools for analysing the gender of contemporary mutations. Ex aequo [online]. 2009, n.19, pp.39-49. ISSN 0874-5560.

This presentation of the Cahiers du Genre, one of the few French social science journals with feminist views, traces the institutional and scientific history of a journal in constant dialogue with both  French and international feminisms. This journal treats a wide range of subjects, covering conceptual issues as well as more empirical topics, re-examined  in reference to contemporary mutations. Work is thus constantly reviewed in the various contexts of globalization, positions of power in business, the glass ceiling, or even in the division of labour in care work between women from the north and those from the south. By its editorial choices, the Cahiers du Genre forms a means to transmit feminist knowledge. The study workshops organised by the journal are an ideal way to develop a dialogue between scientific practices and political action in the field of genderequality policies.

Keywords : Feminism; Feminist Research; Social Sciences; International Comparisons; Work.
