Abstract

COBO, Rosa. Individuality and feminine identity crisis. Ex aequo [online]. 2010, n.22, pp.129-145. ISSN 0874-5560.

The text is divided into three parts: first, we will argue that all societies, Northern and Southern, share cross-cultural structures of male dominance. These structures can be perceived: although they are diffuse and even invisible and therefore difficult to be conceptualized, we can suffer them in our own lives, as free labour or labour gap, for example. In the second part, we think over the social changes that feminism has made in patriarchal societies, by weakening their oppressing structures that affect women in every part of the world. Finally, some legislative and policy changes that have taken place in Spain in recent years in order to accelerate these transformations as an aim of feminism are briefly discussed.

Keywords : Feminism; feminine identity; social change; gender; political agenda.
