Abstract
SAAVEDRA, Luísa et al. Gender (a)symmetries in the access to Engineering and Science in Public Higher Education. Ex aequo [online]. 2011, n.23, pp.163-177. ISSN 0874-5560.
Given that most information about the feminization of Higher Education in Portugal is usually performed by large areas of education we intend, in this paper, to evaluate the frequency of boys and girls, the means of candidature to Higher Education and the option of candidature for Higher Education in certain courses that integrate the areas commonly referred to as «Science, Mathematics and Informatics» and «Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction». The results indicate the need for studies at the European Union and Portugal taking into account the more specific fields of education, so they can be implemented most appropriate interventions, based on a real picture of the situation.
