Abstract

LHENRY, Sophie. Feminists’exile: delocalize the fight to go on acting. Ex aequo [online]. 2011, n.24, pp.79-92. ISSN 0874-5560.

In reaction to a vision which compares societies of emigration and immigration on a binary tradition/modernity model and which postulates that the emancipation of the migrants arises during «integration», we will focus on Algerian and Iranian women exile paths and show that they came to France with an important militant and feminist mindset. We’ll see here that from their first commitments in their native country, in continuation of their struggles in France, these women demonstrate their will to resist to the imposed social norms and to appear as independent persons, agents of History. They will partially question the various power relations while implementing a universal feminism approach.

Keywords : exiled; feminism; militant mindset; Algerian women; Iranian women.
