Abstract

KUBISSA, Luisa Posada. Arguments for and against for a debate: About trafficking and prostitution. Ex aequo [online]. 2012, n.26, pp.121-134. ISSN 0874-5560.

This article places the phenomenon of trafficking in the context of gender violence in our globalized world. It tries to give sense to this criminal action, and in order to do it, turns to the analysis of Celia Amorós about the killing of women in Ciudad Juárez and classifies there the trafficking as a libertine-mafioso phenomenon. Having established that premise, the article examines those arguments which, trying to separate trafficking from prostitution, are in favor of the legalization of the last one, considering it as an activity freely chosen. This article is against this idea because it considers prostitution as an attack against women´s fundamental rights.

Keywords : Trafficking; prostitution; abolition; consent.
