Resumen
ALVES, Joana Margarida Pimentel Mateus. «What I do matters»: a discussion about family care and recognition. Ex aequo [online]. 2014, n.30, pp.97-111. ISSN 0874-5560.
The importance of care in everyday life hasn’t been reflected in social recognition. The caregiver' biographies show that: as the social invisibility of the care has many effects on their lives. In life stories of women those impacts are huge. In this paper we focus on a woman' life story interview to reflect on non-recognition of the caregiver’s role and the impacts on the lives of carers. Because the life story interviews have a great importance to study these issues, we also present a reflection about the importance and the limits of oral narratives to recognize and understand the care and caregiver’s role.
