A questionnaire constructed for the purposes of this study was administered to 100 mothers and 100 fathers with a prison sentence. In addition to the major obstacles faced by mothers due to the increased geographical distance of their descendants, results also suggested differences concerning the socially assigned roles of motherhood and fatherhood.
