Abstract

PORTO, Marina; MORAIS, Maria de Fátima  and  CUEVAS, Jessica Cabrera. Creativity and Gender Differences in the University: An exploratory study with Portuguese students. Ex aequo [online]. 2023, n.48, pp.163-180. ISSN 0874-5560.  https://doi.org/10.22355/exaequo.2023.48.11.

The stimulation of creativity was investigated in relation to gender at a Portuguese university, analyzing knowledge about creativity, barriers, and perceptions related to gender differences among students. The study included 6 women and 5 men from various fields of knowledge. Interviews were conducted, and the collected data were processed through content analysis. It was found that, despite the sense of equality, men and women perceive the development of creativity differently, recognizing inequality in professional success. More inhibiting factors were identified among women, along with a general gap in participants' education regarding creativity.

Keywords : Creativity; inequality; discrimination; higher education; gender.
