Abstract

BENYAICH, Karima. Sayyda Al-Horra: Un pouvoir féminin en terre d'Islam. Faces de Eva. Estudos sobre a Mulher [online]. 2014, n.32, pp.13-21. ISSN 0874-6885.

Battling against the big stirs of rising XVIth century, a woman, named Sayyda Al-Horra, ruled the City-State of Tetouan in the North of Morocco. Moroccan of Andalusian origin, Sayyda Al-Horra had marked its era by her political intelligence, her capacity to federate around her person, her fight against Iberians and her longevity in power. She embodies a feminine power in the land of Islam, thus reducing stereotypes on the role of women in oriental society.

Keywords : Sayyda Al-Horra; female power; Morocco; Tetouan; XVIth century.
