ALVES, Fernando M. P.. Convento das Inglesinhas: entrelace de lendas, histórias e arquiteturas. Faces de Eva. Estudos sobre a Mulher [online]. 2015, n.33, pp.67-82. ISSN 0874-6885.

To be faithful to the history of the Convento das Inglesinhas, it is difficult to follow the historic evolution of its cultural and architectural legacies, while lacking specific sources. In old times, this site of Lisbon received a religious convent and, centuries later, through various social changes, such convent became the actual Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão (ISEG). Thus, ISEG inherited a convent charged with history. Meanwhile, the surrounding area became popularly known as Quelhas. If the memory of this place were to be focused exclusively upon the architectural legacy, it would be then sufficient to arouse the research of certain aspects of its historical heritage. In the evolving process, however, other facts almost unreal intervened, which should never been taken for personal phantasies. In the creation of its name, few are the places that would dispense its interlacing of legend with reality. By receiving its legacy, ISEG-Quelhas did not escape its marriage with the legendary religious sisters, the Brigids.

Palavras-chave : British religious sisters; convent and institute; architecture and urbanism.
