Maria Francisca, the eldest daughter of King Joseph 1st, was a singular personality who reigns after Pombal government. Even nowadays, she can bring about some debate. The present study wants to disclose the guiding ideas for the education of a princess, future queen, glimpsed in the manuscripts of her advisor and confessor, the Jesuit priest Timóteo de Oliveira.
