This article aims to identify processes of feminine identity in the work of Maria Isabel Barreno. Our reading will be guided by the theoretical work of J.L. Austin, further developed by John Searle and Judith Butler. Our work will address traditional feminine spaces and will consider the female body as the occupied space over which self-identity must be constructed.
