Resumen

MARTINEZ, Ariel. Luce Irigaray’s non-essentialist materialism: A renewed look at sexual difference. Faces de Eva. Estudos sobre a Mulher [online]. 2021, n.46, pp.65-82.  Epub 04-Feb-2022. ISSN 0874-6885.  https://doi.org/10.34619/oo3i-4xtx.

Luce Irigaray’s philosophical feminism gravitates around the complex notion of sexual difference. Unfortunately, the predominance of Judith Butler’s poststructuralism within feminism and the decisive way in which the category of gender is embedded in current debates have spuriously held Irigaray as the representative of essentialism. The purpose of this article is to identify the ontological register of her ideas and build a renewed theoretical and political feminist interest in materiality, body, sex and difference entailing no essentialism or biological determinism.

Palabras clave : Luce Irigaray; matter; essentialism; sexual difference.
