The art curriculum and women: An inclusive proposal? This study has a feminist stance and addresses androcentrism in the curriculum of basic education by demonstrating the underrepresentation of women artists in a collection of school textbooks of Art for middle school in Brazil. Given the worst visibility of women in the stereotyped contents of music, we propose a complementary repertoire of composers who are acknowledged in the marginal history of world art. We foster teachers to research alternatives for the denaturalization of androcentrism, which is a recurring problem in the educational field despite the curricular guidelines that defend equity and cultural diversity.
