Abstract

VASCONCELOS, Teresa. Teresa of Ávila: Poetry and mystics. Faces de Eva. Estudos sobre a Mulher [online]. 2022, n.47, pp.115-134.  Epub Aug 01, 2022. ISSN 0874-6885.  https://doi.org/10.34619/cmrb-vlwi.

Teresa of Ávila: Poetry and mystics. Taking as a starting point the written works by Teresa of Ávila, doctor of the Catholic Church, we will reflect upon the actuality of her thinking and doings from the point of view of an epistemology of subjectivity and of her life context. We will go deeper into the meaning of a “theology of experience” in Teresa of Ávila, taking As Moradas as the maximum expression of this theology. Teresa of Ávila uses powerful metaphors to describe and explain what is not explainable. Some of these metaphors are described.

Keywords : Teresa of Ávila; theology; mystics.
