REDIVO, Luciana Balestrin; WERLANG, Blanca Susana Guevara y MULLER, Marisa Campio. Life quality in women who seek gynecological health care. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2008, vol.9, n.1, pp.113-129. ISSN 1645-0086.
The life quality of women who seek gynecological health care was assessed investigating whether the motive to search for gynecological services is related to life quality. The sample was made up with 100 women in the public health system and 100 in the private system. A sociodemographical data form and the SF-36 Generic Life Quality Questionnaire were used. The participants in the public system showed lower values in the SF-36, signaling lower life quality than the participants in the private system. A higher amount of regular gynecological exam consultations was found in the private system, being the public system predominantly searched for symptomatology and treatment. Significant differences were found between the general health domain (public system) that called for symptomatology care (p= 0.04) and between the physical domain (private system) that consulted for regular exams (p= 0.001).
