Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) is one of the most common diagnoses in children’s psychopathology. This study aims: to characterize these children’s neuropsychological functioning in the attention, language and executive functions domains, using tests of Coimbra’s Neuropsychological Assessment Battery (BANC); to describe these children’s behavior in a test environment through the Guide to the Assessment of Test Session Behavior (GATSB); and to study the discriminant validity of some BANC’s tests. The sample comprises: 31 recently ODD diagnosed children, aged 5 to 15; and 31 children selected from BANC´s normative sample, and comparable to the former in age, gender and socioeconomic status. The results obtained indicate a neuropsychological profile characteristic of ODD, with deficits in all studied areas. Although the behavior during assessment of ODD children shows great variability, there is a tendency towards oppositional and defiant behaviors. It was also possible to verify that the BANC’s tests used differentiate the clinical and control groups.
