Abstract
JORDAO, Joana and LEAL, Isabel. Validation of the scale concept of good death. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.1, pp.292-299. ISSN 1645-0086. https://doi.org/10.15309/14psd150123.
In order to allow the knowledge about the conception of a good death, this research aims to validate the scale concept of good death authored by Schwartz, Mazor, Rogers, Ma, e Reed, (2003) for the Portuguese population. The convenience sample replicates the original study, constituted by 100 participants of which 32% are men with an average age of 23.30 years. Considering acceptable KMO value of (0, 671), we proceeded with an exploratory factor analysis, indicating the existence of three factors. The total variance explained by these three factors is 59.9%, where in the first factor designated Control explains 25.8%, the second factor designated Hope explains 17.9% and the third factor designated Closure explains 16.2%. The internal consistency analysis revealed acceptable levels for the first factor (a = 0, 79) and for the second factor (a = 0, 69). The Concept of Good dead scale for the Portuguese population is based on a structure of 11 items assessing the areas of Control, Hope and Closing of the concept.
