SENNA, Sylvia Regina Carmo Magalhães  e  DESSEN, Maria Auxiliadora. Reflections about the health of the brazilian adolescent. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp.217-229. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/15psd160208.

The rapid changes in the processes of human development during adolescence require constant adaptations of the individual and the contexts in which they have lived. These adjustments are crucial to the health of the adolescent, family and community, and they have implications on the subsequent stages of the life course. This article aims to stimulate a reflection on the relationship between the development and promotion of adolescent health. Primarily, we discuss the complexity of the concept of adolescence, which must be understood in its diversity and not simply through the milestones of chronological or physiological change. The health indicators of the main characteristics of change at this stage of human development are highlighted, aiming to supply subsidies for care and protection policies and actions for adolescents. Emphasis is placed on the importance of investing in public policies that take into account the wide range of cultural and regional differences of Brazilian adolescents.
