RAMOS, Catarina et al. Core beliefs inventory: factor structure and psychometric properties on a portuguese sample. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.2, pp.120-131. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/16psd170202.

A traumatic event may cause a variety of negative reactions such as anxiety, depression, or posttraumatic stress disorder. The confrontation with the trauma leads to the challenge of core beliefs about oneself, others, and the world. The challenge of core beliefs is an important predictor of posttraumatic growth. The aim of this study is the validation of the Core Beliefs Inventory for the Portuguese non-clinical population. The sample consisted of 456 participants with an average age of 34.87 (SD = 12.52), who have experienced a traumatic event in the last five years. The Core Beliefs Inventory has good psychometric properties (Cronbach's alpha = .85). Results of exploratory factor analysis suggested a model of two factors explaining 62.58% of the variance of the items. A confirmatory factor analysis shows that the one-factor model presents better adjustment to the data (c2(22) = 37.60, NFI = .98, CFI = .99, GFI = .98, RMSEA [90% IC] = .04 [.02, .06]), when comparing with the structure of two factors. In conclusion, the factor structure proposed by the original article, presents a good fit to the data of the Portuguese normative population.
