BUENO, Maria Angélica; MENDES, Jussara; LACOMBLEZ, Marianne y CUNHA, Liliana. Falling ill as narratives of (de)construction of mental health in public agents. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.2, pp.496-507. ISSN 1645-0086. https://doi.org/10.15309/20psd210223.
This qualitative study aims to explore the maintenance of the illness process derived from Temporary Incapacity to Work with participants working in situations of long periods of work absence (>120 days) in Brazil and in Portugal. 18 participants were enrolled in the construction of the biographical reconstitution interview method whose content was submitted to thematic analysis using Nvivo11. Precarious work and pressure for productivity lead to central research issues for the development of illness before and after work leave; narratives of the professional trajectory as a process of aging in health management and evidence of institutional involvement in mental health. We conclude that norms are subject to renormatization by managing work with life, patient on condition of being and being sick relationship between health and work as a debate and existence in life experiences.
