BRANQUINHO, Cátia; SANTOS, Anabela Caetano  e  MATOS, Margarida Gaspar de. Our voice and reflections for the new wave of COVID-19: youth in social confinement. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.3, pp.624-632.  Epub 31-Dez-2020. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/20psd210307.

This study aims to understand the impact that confinement and social isolation within the COVID-19 had on the lives of adolescents and young people in terms of their physical well-being, psychological and social; alongside strategies and lessons to deal with future pandemics or a new wave of the disease. 617 responses (M = 19.2 years; F = 19.1 years; between 16-24 years) to an online instrument applied during the confinement and social isolation of the first wave of COVID-19. Analysis based on MAXQDA 2020 software. As results, 7 categories emerged: social; emotional; behavioral; physiological; cognitive; educational; structural. To cope with the pandemic, they remained optimistic, carried out pleasant activities, maintained contact with family and friends and established routines. As lessons, they highlighted the importance of respecting the norms of the Directorate-General for Health, the need to prepare the National Health System in a timely manner, to provide training for teachers and students for online teaching-learning, and the possibility of having support in establishing routines. Adolescents and young people reveal themselves interested and able to identify, participate and contribute to solutions in the issues that affect them; are still concerned about the impacts of the pandemic on their generation. Proposals to reduce the impacts of future pandemics or a new wave are presented.
