MARTINS, Henrique  e  FERREIRA, Breno. Scientific evidence on the psychological impacts of epidemics/pandemics on healthcare professionals. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.3, pp.647-660.  Epub 31-Dez-2020. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/20psd210309.

On the world stage, the beginning of 2020 was marked by the outbreak of COVID-19, a disease caused by the new coronavirus, which quickly became one of the largest public health emergencies in the world. In these situations, health professionals have been essential in their work, and in addition to concerns related to physical health, they have suffered different psychological reactions. This article, through an integrative review, analyzed the psychological impacts of epidemics and pandemics on health professionals who worked in health care services. The factors that most impacted were the little information about the outbreak in its onset and prognosis of the infection, low available social support, long working hours, stigma for the profession and high risk of contagion of the disease, suggesting the need for specific actions for the mental health care aimed at health professionals who work in epidemics and pandemics.

Palavras-chave : Healthcare professional; mental health; pandemic; epidemic.
