Resumen

MENESES, Rute. Positive psychology and COVID -19: potentialities of cinematherapy. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.1, pp.25-36.  Epub 30-Abr-2021. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/21psd220104.

Due to its characteristics, COVID-19 poses considerable challenges and risks at various levels, but also possibilities for positive psychological growth. Thus, indirect and direct evidence of the potentialities of the implementation of cinematherapy programs in the context of COVID-19 is presented, considering research on leisure, Positive Psychology and cinematherapy relevant to Health Psychology. The essential aspects of cinematherapy, from its delimitation, denominations, (contra-)indications, (dis)advantages, variants, to the stages of the process, psychological processes potentially at stake, supports and dangers in the selection, use and exploration of existing resources (films, short films, series and other television programs), without forgetting inconsistencies reported in the literature, are also synthesized. Presenting clinical and research challenges, but also intervention/research techniques and tips useful beyond cinematherapy, the author expects to encourage the scientific community to know better, develop and test cinematherapy programs, integrating contributions from Positive Psychology, enriching evidence-based practice of Health Psychology.

Palabras clave : positive psychology; COVID-19; cinematherapy; literature review.
