Twice-exceptionality has been a topic of interest to researchers in terms of understanding individual specificities. This study aimed to verify the cognitive, creative, and socioemotional profile of children with twice-exceptionality, comparing it to the profile of gifted children. For that, there were two groups of participants. Group 1 included five children identified with twice-exceptionality, aged 9 to 11 years old (M= 10.40; SD= 0.89), three with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and two with Attention and Hyperactivity Deficit Disorder associated with a giftedness condition. Group 2 involved 80 gifted children, aged 9 to 12 years old (M= 10.69; SD= 1.17) who answered the Battery for Giftedness Assessment (BAAH/S) which evaluates intelligence, verbal and figural creativity through performance tests, and the Scale to Identify Giftedness Characteristics (EICAH/SD), a self-report instrument of characteristics associated with the phenomenon. Tests of mean differences indicated that the performance of the group with double exceptionality did not show any difference in the measures evaluated, considering the associated diagnosis. Also, there were no significant differences between groups. In view of these results, an explanatory hypothesis involves the possibility that the giftedness identification and, consequently, the provision of appropriate care to their specific needs, may be acting as a protective factor for these children, especially those with another associated diagnosis, since, their performance in the evaluated constructs was not inferior to those that only present giftedness.
