Abstract

PEREIRA, Sara  and  PAIS-RIBEIRO, José Luís. Validation of the sbi-15 scale - systems of belief inventory. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.1, pp.90-99.  Epub Apr 30, 2021. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/21psd220109.

Spirituality and religiosity are concepts linked in an indispensable way, considered as independent and synonymous, however they are often studied in full because of the complexity and difficulty in establishing a consensus between constructs, despite representing different measures of beliefs, they share some elements, namely the belief in the Divine and in the participation of organized religious activities. Given that they are constantly under investigation and the impact on the lives of individuals has been increasingly prevalent, the instruments that allow the assessment of these dimensions have been central. The purpose of this article is based on the validation for the Portuguese population of an instrument that intends to assess religiosity and spirituality, called SBI-15 - Systems of belief inventory. 507 subjects participated, from 18 to 74 years old (M= 2,41; SD= 1.28). Data collection took place via software and paper and pencil. The scale showed satisfactory values in terms of validity and good internal consistency (α= 0.96) and a correlation between variables (p= <0.001).

Keywords : religiosity; spirituality; beliefs; support; validation.
