FUKUSHIMA, Raiana et al. Resilience, quality of life, depressive symptoms and hope in hemodialysis patients. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.1, pp.230-239.  Epub 30-Abr-2021. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/21psd220120.

The present study aimed to analyze the comparison of mean scores among the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), levels of depressive symptoms and hope according to the level of resilience in patients with chronic renal disease (CKD) on hemodialysis (HD). It had a quantitative, transversal, exploratory and correlational design. Data were collected in 84 HD patients. For data collection, the Sample Questionnaire, the 36-item Short-Form Survey (SF-36), the Resilience Scale (ER), the Patient Health Questionnaire - 9 (PHQ-9) and the Herth Hope Index (HHI) were used. The Kruskal-Wallis test was applied in order to verify the comparison of the mean scores between HRQoL perception, levels of depressive symptoms and hope, according to the level of resilience (high, moderate and low) in HD patients. The significance level adopted for the statistical test was 5%. There was a prevalence of men (69%), with a mean age of 52.60 ± 14.30 years and mean HD time of 39.20 ± 50.30 months. Patients with high resilience had a better perception of HRQoL, a lower level of depressive symptoms and a higher level of hope (p <0.001). Resilience has evidenced to be an alternative, which can strategically contribute to the maintenance of psychological variables and, therefore, we suggest that it may be explored in CKD patients undergoing HD treatment.
