Healthcare professionals and, more specifically, nurses perform an exhausting and emotionally exhaustive work activity on a daily basis, which makes it susceptible to occupational risk exposure, including psychosocial risks. The aim of this study was to evaluate psychosocial risk factors and explore predictors in the development of musculoskeletal disorders. Participants in this study included 105 nurses and the results identified the high demands and work intensity, working times, employment relationships and high levels of emotional demands are significant factors at the health level. Predictors of musculoskeletal disorders were identified, more specifically: Have to deal with contradictory instructions (OR=20.743), Have to endure the demands of the patients (OR=39.948); Have to continue working beyond my assigned timetable (OR=4.822), and have to simulate good mood and/or empathy (OR= 7.359). It is important to develop best organizational practices to reduce this health problem that affects a high number of nurses.
