Abstract

ALMEIDA, Denise et al. Social support and the gestational experience: an integrative review. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.1, pp.66-73.  Epub Apr 30, 2022. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/22psd230107.

Social support is a basic condition during the human development process, especially in periods of greater emotional vulnerability, possibly caused by situations of change and/or transitions in life. Pregnancy would be one of these phases due to the biopsychosocial changes arising from the puerperal pregnancy cycle. Thus, the objective was scientific evidence of the importance of social support during pregnancy through an integrative review. To this end, we searched the databases that make up the BSV and SciELO for articles between 2014 and 2018, using the descriptors Social Support and Pregnancy, resulting in 08 articles for analysis and inclusion in the study. The literature reviewed has been pointing out the role of Social Support as a protective factor in the development of postpartum depression. Considering that depression may influence the adaptation to the new life cycle and the development of motherhood in a healthy way and in the care of the newborn, it is necessary to give a greater focus on the quality of the support network and support to pregnant women during pregnancy. puerperal pregnancy cycle.
