PRADO, Isabelly; VASCONCELOS, Dágila  e  COSTA, Maria Suely. Efficacy of psychotherapy in postpartum depression: a systematic review. Psic., Saúde & Doenças [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.1, pp.327-338.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1645-0086.  https://doi.org/10.15309/23psd240128.

Postpartum depression has a multidetermined etiology that needs attention and care. Among the symptoms are problems related to sleep, anxiety, discouragement, labile mood, and suicidal ideas. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important for reducing the consequences it has on the life of the woman and her baby. Understanding psychotherapy as one of the interventions in the treatment of postpartum depression, based on the analysis of its effectiveness, the objective of this work is to carry out a systematic review on psychotherapy as an intervention in cases of postpartum depression. The research was carried out in the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel and Virtual Health Library, and in the databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online and Electronic Periodicals in Psychology, through the descriptors "psychotherapy" AND "postpartum depression", including studies on the efficacy of psychotherapy in comparison to the use of drugs and on psychotherapy as an intervention in puerperal women who presented symptoms of postpartum depression. Five articles were selected: three presented a comparison between the effects of psychotherapy and the use of the drugs sertraline and oxytocin on the decrease of depressive symptoms in puerperal women; one article evaluated the viability and results of a psychotherapic intervention in a group of puerperal adolescents who present symptoms of this diagnosis and one article evaluated the maintenance of the effects of two psychotherapies. It was concluded that psychotherapeutic intervention has effects under the decrease of symptoms in cases of postpartum depression, independently of psychological approach, proving to be effective.
